Cairo-Durham voters approve revised budget

Kyle Adams reports in The Daily Mail voters in the Cairo-Durham Central School District approved a revised 2013-14 budget Tues., June 18. The original $27.8 million budget was rejected by voters, May 21. The revised budget reduced the tax levy increase by less than one percent. The reduction was made possible by moving $60,000 from the unappropriated fund balance to the upcoming year’s revenue stream. Approval came as a relief to school officials concerned about the prospect of a forced implementation of a contingency budget. Superintendent of Schools Mary Fassett said, “I’m very happy and optimistic for the year ahead." Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
