Andrea Macko reports for Porcupine Soup that the Bank of Greene County announced on Feb. 23 a commitment for up to $5 million in low interest loans for business investments on Cairo’s Main Street. Several new businesses have opened there recently. Bank of Greene County President and CEO Don Gibson said, "We have designed a unique loan program to keep the momentum moving forward. The program will support existing and new business entrepreneurs, which we believe will spur more investments." There are not too many locations for businesses to move into on Main Street, and Cairo is already working on infrastructure expansion aimed at bringing manufacturing and distribution companies across from the McDonald's on State Route 23.
