Schumer pushing for end to robocalls

Charles Schumer is at work on getting the full Senate to vote on the Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence, or TRACED, Act. The bill would require phone companies to verify the identity of callers and block robocalls at no additional cost to consumers. Under the TRACED Act, the Federal Communications Commission would have more authority to investigate and punish illegal robocallers. YouMail reported this year that 47.7 billion robocalls were made in the U.S. in 2018, a 57 percent increase over the number of calls made the year before.
