May 24, 2019 12:45 pm
Todd Kehoe is reporting for the Albany Business Review the city of Hudson has made the publication's list of the 10 fastest-shrinking cities in the state of New York. Hudson ranked 10th on the list behind some of the state's biggest losers in population, including Syracuse, Binghamton, Rochester and Buffalo. Combined, those cities have lost more than 14,000 residents since 2010. The city of Hudson's population in 2018 was 6,144, indicating a loss of 569 residents, or an 8.48 percent decrease, since 2010. The city of Saratoga Springs led the way in upstate population growth, measuring a greater increase in population during the past nine years than any other city in New York. Other growing upstate cities include Ithaca, Cohoes and Peekskill. Of the 62 cities in the state, only 13 have grown in population this decade. The rankings were based on city and village population estimates released this week by the U.S. Census. Read the full story in the Albany Business Review.
