Hudson officials negotiating new contract with Mid-Hudson

Amanda Purcell is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Hudson officials and Mid-Hudson Cablevision are currently engaged in negotiation over a new 15-year franchise agreement for the delivery of cable and internet services in the city. Representatives from Mid-Hudson Cablevision, chief engineer Dave Fingar and administrative coordinator Rachel Puckett answered questions about the proposed pact at the Common Council Economic Development Committee meeting last month. Under the proposal, Mid-Hudson would continue to pay a 3 percent franchise fee to the city based on the number of active subscribers. Revenue collected from the fee would go into the city’s general fund, Economic Development Committee Chairman Rich Volo said. The agreement is nonexclusive, meaning the city would be able to contract with other companies for cable services, Fingar said. The Mid-Hudson contract remains under review by the Economic Development Committee. A date to hear public comment on the agreement has not yet been set.
