Athens may join Catskill sewer expansion

William J. Kemble reported in the Daily Freeman the Catskill Town Board has been told the Athens Town Board will consider participating in a proposed $8.7 million sewer expansion project. Catskill officials are considering a plan to extend a sewer line from Jefferson Heights through the hamlet of Leeds. The plan comes in response to pressure on local businesses from the state Department of Environmental Conservation. Cairo town officials have been asked if there is interest in connecting South Cairo properties to the proposed extension, as well. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
