Coxsackie water main breaks, boil water advisory in effect

Jun 04, 2020 6:00 am
Bill Williams is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media residents of Coxsackie and New Baltimore were affacted by a water main break, June 3, according to Coxsackie Village Mayor Mark Evans. The broken main serves a portion of Diederich’s Trailer Park and all of Scheller Park in New Baltimore, Evans said. The line is owned by the town of New Baltimore, but maintained by the village of Coxsackie. Callanan Construction of South Bethlehem will do the repairs because the job is beyond the ability of the village Department of Public Works to tackle, Evans said. The repairs are made more difficult because the main runs under the southbound lanes of New York State Thruway. Depending on how quickly the specific location of the break can be found, repairs could take one day, or several days. The village website, reports that two water trailers were available for residents in Scheller Park on Wed., June 3. Residents are being advised to boil the water for use. On Thursday, a water tanker will be hooked up to the water system in Scheller in an effort to restore water service. Service to Diederich’s Trailer Park has already been restored, but a boil water advisory is in effect for the next several days. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
