Adam Shanks reports in the Register Star the Chatham Town Board will present to the public its 2012-13 town budget at 7 p.m., tonight at the Chatham Town Hall. Because of rising costs, Supervisor Jesse DeGroodt said, the town expects the tax levy increase needed will exceed the state mandated cap. If that happens, the spending plan will have to be approved by town voters by a super majority, or 60 percent. The board will hold a second workshop Oct. 11. Read the full story in the Register Star.
