Coeymans officials look to update comprehensive plan

Melanie Lekocevic is reporting for Capital Region Independent Media Coeymans officials are looking to update the town's comprehensive plan. At the monthly workshop meeting of the Coeymans Town Board, Jaclyn Hakes, director of planning for MJ Engineering and Land Surveying, and the town’s grant writer, Nicole Ambrosio, made a presentation on the process and answered questions. Comprehensive plans are done in three stages, Hakes explained. First, determining the existing state of the community, understanding the desire for the future of the community, and implementation of the plan. Town Supervisor George McHugh said he envisions the town board being the driving force behind the effort, with input from the combined zoning and planning board. McHugh expressed a preference for a targeted approach, which would save the town money. “We can certainly open up the surveys to get even more [input], but I fear that sometimes when you get too much, nothing gets done, and everybody has different ideas. So when you make that too big, that committee, I don’t know if that necessarily helps get things done,” McHugh said. Read the full story in the Ravena News-Herald.
