Senior housing proposed on Kinderhook/Valatie town line

Logan Weiss reports in Columbia-Greene Media that there is a housing proposal in Kinderhook, for people 55 and up. Paul Calcagno Jr., CEO of PCJ Development in Kinderhook, introduced the housing proposal for residents age 55 and older at a Sept. 12 meeting for between the town of Kinderhook and the village of Valatie. Calcagno's company bought 18 acres on Route 9 for the 192-unit development in three buildings each four stories high. Most of the property is in the town of Kinderhook, with about 25 percent of the land in Valatie. Calcagno proposes that the village of Valatie annex the land to obtain water and sewer infrastructure. “We do need senior citizen housing for middle-income and upper-income seniors,” Valatie Mayor Diane Argyle said.
