Petersburgh resident wants water study

Mar 30, 2018 2:34 pm
Doug La Rocque in the Eastwick Press reports that Petersburgh resident Heinz Noeding is sending a letter to the state's Department of Conservation demanding a study into alternate sources of drinking water, for Petersburgh. Plastics company Taconic is blamed for polluting the water there with the toxic chemical PFOA. Noeding sits on both the Petersburgh Water District Committee and a citizens panel that is monitoring the PFOA situation. Petersburgh’s environmental attorney Kevin Young recommended that the town not sign on to Noeding's letter, as it could complicate the litigation and negotiations between the town, Taconic, and the DEC.
