May 29, 2019 12:43 am
Mark Lungariello reports in the Rockland/Westchester Journal News that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials arrested 31 people in lower New York state last week. Between May 19 and May 23 ICE made arrests in Poughkeepsie, New Paltz, Newburgh, Brewster and other Hudson Valley areas, and also in New York City and on Long Island. “ICE officers conduct targeted enforcement actions daily, and like in this initiative, we arrest criminal aliens who are public safety threats in the communities,” said Thomas R. Decker, field office director for ICE Enforcement Removal Operations New York. According to ICE officials, 29 of those arrested had either been issued a final order to be removed from the country or had previously been deported, and two of the people arrested were in custody awaiting a hearing before an immigration judge as of the end of last week.
