Lone Trump supporter turns out for inauguration protest in Albany
Stephen Williams and Peter R. Barber are reporting for The Daily Gazette there was no massive protest by supporters of President Donald J. Trump outside the state Capitol January 30, objecting to the inauguration of new President Joe Biden. Only Mark Leggiero, from the Montgomery County town of Florida, turned out, standing alone in the park near the fenced-off east steps of the massive building. Leggiero wore a Trump-branded long-sleeve jersey and a colorful Trump flag. “I was coming out to hopefully join a bunch of peaceful protesters in supporting the cause, that’s is almost a lost cause now, unfortunately, I’m sad to say,” Leggiero said. He said he had no interest in politics before Trump, and Trump will “always be my president.” He said Trump, "...gave me spirit he gave me pride, he wanted me to live free.” The Capitol has been fortified with fencing and barriers since the Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
