Pine Plains P.O. now officially to be named for Shannon Kent

MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting the Pine Plains Post Office will now be officially named for Senior Chief Petty Officer Shannon Kent. Kent, a native of Pine Plains, was killed January 16, 2019, while serving in Syria. U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado said the nation is forever grateful to Kent, "who devoted her life to protecting our country and defending our democracy.” The Rhinebeck Democrat sponsored the legislation naming the post office. Kent was a United States Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer and Cryptologic Technician and was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and a Combat Action Ribbon.
