The Daily Freeman reports that there were 100 new jobs added in Greene County over the past year according to the monthly employment report issued Nov. 15 by the New York State Department of Labor. Greene County employment rose 0.7 percent to 15,200 from October 2017. In Columbia County, employment remained the same, at 22,200 in October. In Ulster County, the nonfarm job total rose by 1,400, or 2.1 percent, with 65,000 jobs. Dutchess and Putnam County statistics are combined in the report, with 2,500 nonfarm jobs added in the two counties over the past year, a 1.7 percent increase to 153,500. Statewide, the unemployment rate in October 2018 was four percent, down from 4.1 percent the previous month before, and down from 4.7 percent in October 2017. Read the full story in The Daily Freeman.
