Perhaps final Apple Festival in Cairo

Logan Weiss reports for Columbia-Greene Media from the 25th Annual, and perhaps final, Cairo Apple Harvest Festival Oct. 6. The Cairo Chamber of Commerce, which puts on the event, is folding because of lack of interest from the community. Only five Cairo businesses are involved in the chamber, and there were only about a dozen vendors at the event Oct. 6. The Cairo Chamber of Commerce previously hosted many events including Cairo Market Days, Bears & Butterflies, Clean Up Day, Music Under the Stars, and the Catskill Mountains Renaissance Faire. There was a proposal before the Cairo Town Board recently to make a donation to keep the Chamber afloat, but that was turned down without a vote. Read the full story in HudsonValley360.com.
