Cuomo backs single-payer healthcare
Sep 19, 2017 2:18 pm
Matthew Hamilton reports in the Albany Times Union that as Republicans in Washington D.C. attempt another go at gutting the current national healthcare system, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Sept. 18 that he now supports single-payer healthcare at both the federal and state levels. "I think that would be a good idea," Cuomo said on WNYC's "The Brian Lehrer Show" when asked about a Bernie Sanders-backed "Medicare for All" system. New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has signed on to the bill, New York Senator Chuck Schumer has not. "I'm afraid (the Republicans) come back with healthcare reform," the governor added. "I think we're in the eye of the storm, where it's apparently quiet right now on healthcare. I think the back half of the storm is going to come around." Read the full story in the Albany Times Union.
