Valerie White reports for Porcupine Soup that a new farmers market will be open May 2 at Shinglekill Falls Bed & Breakfast in Purling. “This is something Cairo needs,” said Jill Lamanec, proprietor of the B&B. “Somewhere we can go to get fresh fruits and vegetables.” The market will run 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays May through October and will accept SNAP benefits. Vendors announced so far include See & Be Kitchen of Cairo, Old Factory Brewing Company of Cairo, La Casa Latina of Catskill, and Left Bank Cider of Catskill.
