Dean and Adam Skelos report to prison

Nicole Fuller is reporting for Newsday former State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and his son Adam Skelos began serving their four-year sentences in federal prison Jan. 8. The Dean and Adam were convicted at trial in July on corruption charges for using Dean Skelos' leadership position to shake down companies for $300,000 in payments made to Adam. Dean reported to Federal Correctional Institute Otisville in Orange County, and Adam reported to FCI Danbury in Connecticut, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Dean Skelos, 70, of Rockville Centre, Nassau County, is a Republican and served in the state Legislature for 30 years. He was sentenced to four years and three months in prison. Adam Skelos, 36, also of Rockville Centre, was sentenced to four years. In the federal system, the incarcerated typically serve roughly 85 percent of their sentences. Read the full story in Newsday.
