Bill would eliminate Independence Party

Chris McKenna reports for The Fray that a bill introduced in Albany by two Democrats Jan. 15 would add “Independence” and “Independent” to words not allowed to be used in political party names. The state already forbids political parties to use in their names, “American,” “United States,” “National,” “New York State,” and “Empire State.” Political observers have long wondered how many people who don't want to be included in any political party sign up for The Independence Party. Currently, all sorts of politicians try to also get endorsed on the Independence Party line. Read the full story in The Fray.
