Three seats open on Chatham BoE

May 08, 2020 12:45 pm
The Columbia Paper is reporting the Chatham Board of Education has three vacancies to fill in 2020. Candidates must be able to read and write; have been a resident of the district for at least one year; be an eligible voter and U.S. citizen; and be 18 years of age or older. School board elections are normally held in May, but this year, due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order rescheduling the annual school board elections and budget vote to June 9. The governor's order also waived the signatures required thereby allowing anyone interested in running for a seat on the board to self-nominate. Candidates are directed to email or mail a letter of interest to the District Clerk no later than 5 p.m., Mon., May 11. The letter must state the candidate’s interest in serving on the board and include the candidate’s name and address. District Clerk Deborah Pottenburgh can be reached via email at Pottenburghd@chatham.k12.ny.us, by phone at 518-392-1501, or by U.S. Mail, care of the Chatham Central School District, 50 Woodbridge Ave, Chatham, NY 12037.
