Melanie Lekocevic reports in The Daily Mail Steven Van Hoesen was chosen as the new Athens Town Council member, during the Council's yearly reorganization meeting held early this week. Town Supervisor Lee Allen Palmateer chose Councilman Robert Butler as deputy town supervisor, replacing Gene Hatton. Hatton is now serving as the District 3 representative to the Greene County Legislature. Butler has served on the Council for six years. He is also Palmateer's cousin. Maryanne Stapleton was reappointed by Palmateer as the town's bookkeeper and budget officer. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
