Cuomo announces phone number, website for coronavirus information
Feb 04, 2020 11:21 pm
Bethany Bump reports for the Times Union that Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a phone number and website for New Yorkers with questions about the coronavirus, even before any cases of the virus in the state have been reported. So far, samples from 17 New Yorkers have been sent to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for testing, with eleven testing negative and six still pending. Three of the pending samples are from New York City, and three are not. The phone number to call with questions is 1-888-364-3065, and the website is ny.gov/coronavirus. At least 427 people have died from the virus and another 20,000 have been infected, mostly in China. Health officials recommend frequent hand washing and staying home from school or work when sick, as they do for the common flu. Read more about this story in the Times Union.
