Diane Valden reports in the Columbia Paper that hydrogeologist Jean Patota said at the Copake Planning Board’s November 7 meeting that there is a kerosene leak at the site of a proposed gas station/convenience store in Craryville. GRJH wants to build a new gas station/convenience store between the Craryville Post Office and the Craryville United Methodist Church on the northwest corner of the state Route 23, county Route 7, and Craryville Road. Planning Board Chair Bob Haight said it is “a small spill on one corner of the property.... This will not stop the project." The contaminated soil will be removed when the new project is built.
