'Capital Tonight' to end

Rachel Silberstein is reporting for the Times Union longtime Albany political reporter Liz Benjamin is preparing to leave the weeknight Spectrum News program "Capital Tonight," after nearly 10 years. Benjamin declined to comment May 30. "That's not something I'm prepared to confirm at this point. ... I'm going to dictate my own terms," she said. The show is popular among Albany insiders and provides a forum for elected officials statewide. "Capital Tonight" is expected to end after the legislative session concludes June 19. Benjamin joined "Capital Tonight" in 2010, when it was produced by Time Warner. Before moving to television, she reported on state politics for the Times Union and the New York Daily News. Benjamin also launched and developed the Times Union's political blog, Capitol Confidential. Read the full story in the Times Union.
