Aliya Schneider is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Hudson Mayor Kamal Johnson has reversed his decision to forego December free parking after hearing from the community. The reversal was posted December 10, on his Facebook page. The announcement is nowhere to be found on the city website. Johnson wrote, “Starting Monday December 14th I will be honoring the tradition of suspending parking meters for the remainder of the month of December. While our city continues to feel the damage of COVID-19 sometimes we will not be able to honor every tradition. However as your mayor I do promise to always listen and make decisions I feel are best for the survival of our city. I apologize for the inconvenience caused and wish everyone a healthy and happy holidays.” Johnson acknowledged that local businesses reached out to him about the issue. “When the community is all on the same page I need to be on that page,” he said.
