Roadwork suspended statewide for holiday

Shivani Gonzalez is reporting at Capitol Confidential Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has paused road construction statewide in an effort to speed traffic on its way this holiday weekend. Most construction will be prohibited between 6 a.m., Fri., Jul. 3, to 10 p.m. Sun., Jul. 5. Howver, some emergency repairs will continue during that period. According to a statement released by the governor's office, the American Automobile Association estimates that more than 40 million people will travel statewide this weekend. Travelers are urged to consult 511 NY and the Federal Highway Association for real-time traffic information, weather alerts, news on road closings and temporary speed limit changes on major highways.
