Nov 13, 2018
An appreciation of the Senegalese musician and composer Cheikh N’Diguël Lô. A musical maverick known for his experimental fusions – from the diverse sounds of Senegal and Burkina Faso, where he grew up, to Cuban son, Congolese soukous, makossa from Cameroon, reggae, funk, and more – he released his first album in 1996 at the age of 40, after nearly two decades as a session drummer and guitarist. Music for the Masses invites you on an excursion of sound and rhythm. Discover the music of established and emerging artists, both signed and unsigned, on the international music scene. Expect the unexpected. You might want to pack a map and a sandwich. For the avid globe-hopper and armchair traveler alike. Broadcast live from the Carnegie Room of the Catskill Library.
