Jan 01, 2018 1:15 pm

The Daily Freeman is reporting on December 30, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo unveiled a $34 million plan to modernize, expand and rebrand Stewart International Airport. The plan begins with the Orange County airfield getting a new name: New York International at Stewart Field. The proposal, part of Cuomo's 2018 State of the State message, calls on the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to spend $27 million to expand international passenger service at Stewart and to enhance Express Bus Service for Norwegian Airlines international flights to and from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan. The proposal calls for the construction of a permanent U.S. Customs and Border Protection federal inspection station at Stewart, as well. That inspection station would add nearly 20,000 square feet to the existing terminal and screen up to 400 international passengers per hour. It’s expected to be complete by first quarter of 2021, officials said. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
