Region's unemployment rates remain high

The Mid-Hudson News Network is reporting unemployment rates in the Mid-Hudson Valley remain high. Greene County reported one of the highest jobless rates in the region at 10.2 percent. For the 12 months ending in February, unemployment dropped slightly in Columbia and Dutchess counties. It remained the same in Sullivan and Ulster, but rose in Greene County. Tompkins County, which encompasses the city of Ithaca, reported the lowest rate in the state, at 5.8 percent. State Labor Department analyst John Nelson said the economy is showing signs of improvement. "Overall, the job market is still good; we are doing okay," he said. Read the full story online.
