Catskill, Coeymans consider cell towers
Jan 30, 2016 12:04 am
Catskill and Coeymans are considering adding new cell phone towers. Jim Planck reports in The Daily Mail that the Village of Catskill is looking into adding a Verizon tower next to another one at a site on Hamburg Road. The village would get rent and better cell service if a deal is struck. The village planning board has approved the tower, and the Village board on Jan. 26 agreed to open negotiations with Verizon. During the meeting, Verizon consultant John McAuliffe, of the consultant firm Tectonic Engineering, admitted, “there’s a coverage problem” in the village. Also this Mon. Feb. 1, Coeymans holds a public hearing about the proposed cell tower from the Albany County Sheriff. That tower would be on property owned by William Biers on Biers Road, and the hearing is at 7 p.m. Mon. Feb. 1 at Coeymans Town Hall.
