Feb 19, 2018 4:45 pm
Jeanette Wolfberg is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Hudson school board formally voted last week to close the John L. Edwards Primary School, effective June 30. The facility is located in the 300 block of State Street in Hudson. Students currently enrolled at JLE will attend what is now the Montgomery C. Smith Intermediate School building on Harry Howard Avenue. On September 1, its name will change to Montgomery C. Smith Elementary School and house students enrolled in pre-K through 5th grade. The board vote on February 12 was preceded by a short, well-attended public hearing, but no public comment was offered. The decision to close JLE was made two years ago as part of a district consolidation plan. The fate of the building, once vacant, has yet to be determined.Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
