Hudson Valley Democrats vote to investigate attempted government overthrow
On May 19 Hudson Valley Democrats Paul Tonko, Antonio Delgado, and Sean Maloney all voted for a "National Commission to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol Complex Act." Only 35 Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives voted to investigate the attempted overthrow of the government by a deadly mob at the nation's capitol. Long Island Rep. Lee Zeldin, who is now running for governor in New York, voted with most of his Republican colleagues against an investigation. Republican Elise Stefanik also voted against the measure. And she also voted against "Condemning the horrific shootings in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 16, 2021, and reaffirming the House of Representatives commitment to combating hate, bigotry, and violence against the Asian-American and Pacific Islander community." Only 30 Republicans voted for that measure on May 19, and local Democrats Tonko, Delgado, and Maloney backed that bill.
