Daniel Johnson reports in the Register Star the Greenport Town Board passed an emergency resolution Wed., Apr. 3, to repair one of the town’s four wells. The repair will cost more than $40,000. Greenport well 3 is located on Route 9, south of the city of Hudson, in a protected watershed area. Town officials said the pump burned out, along with the transformer, in early March. The emergency repairs may push back a scheduled hydrant flushing set for April 15. The project was awarded to Subsurface Technologies Inc. of Rock Tavern, NY. Read the full story in the Register Star.
