Matt Davis

Matt Davis has studied music under the protection of institutions, enveloped by widespread sublimity of free improvisation, and lost in the underbelly of electronic music. His primary performance medium is electro-acoustic free improvisation; blending live manipulations of homemade instruments and amplified objects with looping, delays and an analog modular synth. Studying opera performance brought him closer to the experimental vocal music of John Cage and others, which led him down the path to Pauline Oliveros and her deep listening techniques. Composed works run the gamut of noise and sound collage to dance music with actual beats and groovy basslines; Matt releases this music as Craque, with albums released on Audiobulb, Stasisfield, Kikapu, TestTube, Kahvi, Xynthetic, and Cuneimedia.
