Work: The Work Show: October Harvest

Oct 10, 2012: 2pm - 3pm

Produced by Paul Smart.

This month's edition of The Work Show is all about working the harvest. Those interviewed about their working lives, both as workers and employers, include Jimmy Story of Story's Farm in Kiskatom, Greene County; Rande and Chris Loken of Love Apple Orchard in West Ghent, Columbia County (recently sold to Frances Greenberger, of Art Omi fame); and Laura Lacouer of Rural Migrant Ministry, based in Dutchess County, but serving migrant and rural workers throughout the Hudson Valley, Catskills and western New York. Music includes a piece from Joseph Canteloube's Chants d'Auvergne, sung by soprano Victoria de los Angeles; King Harvest by The Band; Mir Stanke, a harvest song sung by the Bulgarian Television Women's Choir; and Wildegeeses, from Michael Hurley and Ida. The show is hosted and produced by Paul Smart.
