ACA repeal could trigger Albany special legislative session

Mar 02, 2017 12:05 am
Josefa Velasquez reports in Politico New York that if Republicans in Washington D.C. eliminate the Affordable Care Act, the New York legislature may return for a special session. If our worst fears come to happen, I believe at some point we’ll have to come back before the end of the year to deal with that,” Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie said on Feb. 28. June 21 is the last day of the state legislature this year. "Repealing the health care law could blow a $3.7 billion hole in the state’s budget, the administration estimates, with counties throughout the state standing to lose roughly $300 million in federal funding," the story says.
