Oct 01, 2018 12:30 pm
The Daily Freeman is reporting Democrat incumbent Andrew Cuomo holds a wide lead over Republican challenger Marc Molinaro in the race for New York governor, according to a poll released October 1. The Siena Poll found that 50 percent of registered voters participating supported Cuomo, while 28 percent back Molinaro. Working Families Party candidate Cynthia Nixon is at 10 percent, with the remaining minor-party candidates receiving combined support of 4 percent, while eight percent of those polled remain undecided, Siena said. In New York City, Cuomo leads Molinaro by 61 points, and by 24 percent in the downstate suburbs. Upstate, Cuomo is ahead by only two points. In a statement released to the media, the Molinaro campaign said it rejects the Siena poll "as part of Andrew Cuomo's corrupt rigged system." In other races — from U.S. Senate to state attorney general, Democrats are also leading by wide margins. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
