Local COVID-19 cases continue rising

There were over 177,000 COVID-19 cases, and 1,138 deaths announced in the United States Dec. 6. Right now, 101,487 people are hospitalized with coronavirus, another new record. Nearly 10,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported Dec. 6 across New York. Albany County announced 143 new positive coronavirus cases on Dec. 6, with a woman in her 60s dying after contracting the virus. There were 43 new cases of COVID-19 reported by the Rensselaer County Health Department on Dec. 6. The county also announced death of an 86-year-old East Greenbush man, Rensselaer County's 63rd death from COVID-19. On Dec. 6 Dutchess County topped 900 active COVID cases, the most since mid-May. And Dutchess County also announced two more deaths related to the illness, and 157 newly confirmed cases. Ulster County last updated its online COVID data Dec. 4, when it reported 1,212 active cases, the county's highest total to date.
