Nuestra Música: Joan Manuel Serrat - Joaquin Sabina - The Farewell Tours (Audio)
Today we are celebrating the music, poetry, and commitment to human rights of two giants of La Nueva Musica Española: Joan Manuel Serrat and Joaquin Sabina.
After 6 decades of live performances Serrat ended his Farewell Tour in Barcelona in 2022. Sabina is in the mix of his Farewell tour titled Hola y Adios Tour which will end this year.
A through and through Catalan, Serrat sung the poetry of Machado, wrote his own songs and become a symbol of freedom in Spain and Latin America. Born in the Province of Jaen, Sabina, also knew of exiles, and government persecutions.
“Nuestra Música,” “Our Music,” presents the rhythms and folklore of Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and Cape Verde. From Tango to Flamenco and all Latinx music in between. The show explores the native instruments, languages, and traditions played in 22 countries and one territory. Other than Spanish and Portuguese, "Nuestra Música" presents songs in Quechua, Mapuche, Guaraní, Nahuatl, Gallego, Spanish Basque, and Catalán. Among many styles we present: Tango, Chacarera, Baguala, Zamba with a Z and Samba with an S, Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Llanero, Vallenato, Merengue, Parrandera, Son, Bolero, Ranchera, Corrido, Marimba, Fado, Flamenco, Sevillanas, Jota, Blues, Jazz, Danzon, Mambo, and many more.
