Fishing banned in Upper Esopus Creek due to low, muddy water
Oct 18, 2016 12:04 am
Jay Braman is reporting in the Daily Freeman the state Department of Environmental Conservation has banned fishing in the Upper Esopus Creek in Ulster County due to low, muddy water. The ban covers Shandaken Portal to the Ashokan Reservoir because “low, muddy water may affect trout spawning,” the department tweeted and said on its website. The muddy water is believed to be coming from the Schoharie Creek via the Shandaken Tunnel. No word on whether the ban will be lifted before the fishing season ends Nov. 30.
