State announces REDC grants for several local organizations

New York's Regional Economic Development Council awarded 110 projects in the Capital Region $85 million on Dec. 13. Basilica Hudson, the Hudson Opera House, and the Town of Catskill were among the local recipients. The 723 Warren St. LLC is getting $120,000 to renovate the former Park Theater, "creating open commercial space to support the City of Hudson’s growing creative economy." Basilica Hudson is getting $75,000 to renovate its gallery space, and $45,000 to hire a development manager. Coarc's Columbia County will receive $230,000, "to expand electronics recycling opportunities." The Village of Catskill will create a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) for its Hudson River waterfront with $85,000. Other local recipients include Columbia Greene Community College, Columbia Land Conservancy, Thomas Cole Historic House, and Catskill Mountain Housing Development Corporation.
