Metroland does not publish, may not

Paul Grondahl reports in the Albany Times Union that Metroland, the Albany-based alternative weekly, did not publish Nov. 5, the first Thursday in 38 years without an issue. On Nov. 3, Metroland's office and property were seized by state tax officials for nonpayment of taxes. For the past year the 40,000-circulation weekly had been printed at the Times Union plant with payment demanded upfront. Editor and Publisher Stephen Leon says they may be able to continue online, and has outside hopes of pulling off some other way to bring back the paper. Read the full story in the Albany Times Union.
