Cairo student wins character contest

[/caption]Cairo-Durham sixth grader Ryan Holdridge won Scholastic’s Storyworks Magazine’s “Create A Character” contest, the school announced Tue., Jan. 31. Barbara O’Connor, an award-winning children’s book author known for books such as "How to Steal a Dog" and "Fame and Glory in Freedom, Georgia," selected Ryan’s entry out of five thousand others from around the country. O'Conner will use Holdridge's character, Roy Rigatoni, in a story the April/May issue of magazine.
