Dollar Tree amends its mask policy

Brian Niemietz is reporting for the New York Daily News budget retailer Dollar Tree has changed course on its face mask policy. The company amended its safety guidelines, now requesting that customers wear facial coverings to protect each other as well as store employees, making it optional rather than mandatory. The store's reversal of store policy was noticed by USA Today, which cited a July 8 update to the company’s coronavirus updates page. Dollar Tree’s competitors, including Walmart, Aldi and Target, are among the many retailers who require shoppers to wear face masks. “In accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we are requiring all associates and vendors to wear face coverings when inside our stores,” store policy now reads. “We also request that our customers wear face coverings, and require face coverings where required by state or local ordinance.” Dollar Tree has 5 five stores located within 25 miles of Hudson, including one in Greenport and another in Catskill.
