Commission recommends more salary increase for Ulster sheriff

Jun 13, 2019 12:18 am
Patricia R. Doxsey reports in the Daily Freeman that Ulster County's Periodic Compensation Review Committee voted June 12 that the county sheriff should get a raise, but the county executive, comptroller, and the 23 members of the Legislature should not. The commission recommended an 8.2 percent pay raise for the sheriff in 2020. In May, the committee recommended the county clerk's salary be raised by 3.6 percent. The Legislature must vote in any salary increase, and in 2017 the Legislature rejected recommendations for raises for the sheriff and county clerk. Read more about this story in the Daily Freeman.
