Cayla Harris reports for the Times Union that Democrat Brittany Vogel from Brunswick announced a campaign this week to win the 107th Assembly district seat from Republican Jake Ashby. Vogel is an assistant grocery store manager who wants to represent the district that covers Rensselaer County and parts of Columbia and Washington counties. Vogel is disavowing corporate donations and wants to address ending childhood poverty, climate change, and criminal justice reform. “For the past two decades, I’ve been waiting for our politicians to address the issues that have made the lives of the working people, like mine, harder,” she wrote on her website. “After many years, I have realized that if we are ever going to get the leaders we need – ones who care about the people and want to see us do better – then we would have to run ourselves.” Read more about this story in the Times Union.
