Athens considers installing video cameras in patrol cars

May 02, 2013 6:43 am
Melanie Lekocevic reports in The Daily Mail Athens Police Chief Roger Masse has proposed village police patrol cars be equipped with video recording equipment. The equipment would be activated manually by the officer, or automatically when the vehicle's lights and sirens are used. The added technology would instantly create a record of whatever occurs when police pull someone over or respond to an incident. The cost was estimated at $3,000 for each of the village's three vehicles. Mayor Chris Pfister did not take issue with the video equipment itself, but rather with the cost of the project. The matter will be taken up again at the board's next meeting, later this month. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
