Amanda Purcell is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Hudson city officials have selected The Chazen Companies, of Glen Falls, to manage the projects planned under the state Downtown Revitalization Initiative. The Common Council Jan. 15, adopted a resolution to enter into an agreement with Chazen after the company was chosen by the DRI committee. The city's bridge district was selected in August 2017, as the winner of the $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative in the Capital Region. The 13 projects to be developed were selected and approved by the governor’s office. “[The Chazen Companies] seemed to have met all our goals and they have a great appreciation of the DRI process,” Mayor Rick Rector said Jan. 28. Chris Round, Chazen's senior principal, said a construction start date for the work has not yet been identified, but the goal is to have the chosen projects finished over a three-year period. Chazen's municipal funding specialist Julie Pacatte was selected as Hudson's project manager. Pacatte has led economic development in the city of Batavia for the past eight years, Round said. The list of DRI projects include the design and construction and improvements to city streets in the bridge district, Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility and redesign of Promenade Hill Park, stairways on Cross and Second streets, structural rehabilitation of the Dunn Warehouse and the repurposing of the Furgary Fishing Village into a city park.
