• From Amateur Radio Newsline: "Looking forward to spring? The hams in New York State's Hudson Valley region have good reason to be planning ahead. The Orange County Amateur Radio Club has set the date for their Spring Hamfest on Sunday, April 24. The hamfest will be held at the Wallkilll Community Center, just north of the Route 17 Quickway. As plans develop further, be sure to check into the club website at www.ocarc-ny.org. And just two months later, the Mt. Beacon Amateur Radio Club will be hosting its "Beaconfest." Doors open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 5, in the Quality of Life building on Red Schoolhouse Road, just east of Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill."
• WGXC celebrates its fifth anniversary in February, and is hosting an Open Call for covers of the song "Take Five." Submissions, interpretations, mash-ups, and mix-ups of the song, should be sent to info@wgxc.org, or dropped off in-person at the WGXC Hudson Studio, 704 Columbia Street, 2nd Floor, prior to February 10, 2016 for inclusion in anniversary events such as WGXC's High Five Pledge Drive (February 11-26, 2016). WGXC holds a grand celebration in Catskill Feb. 26 for the five-year anniversary.
• "The Hudson Café" is the latest show added to the WGXC radio schedule. Maria Manhattan hosts on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. featuring the American songbook, as interpreted by contemporary artists as well as the jazz greats in a diverse range of genres.
• WCAA-LP, the new low-power station trying to get on the air through the Grand Street Arts group in Albany, holds a "Local Music Mixer" with local musicians at 8 p.m. Feb. 4 at The Low Beat in Albany.
